  • Brass Ensemble

    • University Brass Ensemble - University Brass Ensemble is composed of brass and percussion students, with smaller chamber groups selected from the large ensemble. Each year, the ensemble hosts BrassFest, a weekend of brass music, guest artists and masterclasses.
  • Choral Ensembles

    • Georgia State University Singers - Conducted by Dr. Deanna Joseph, the University Singers is the School of Music’s premier vocal ensemble. Selected by competitive audition, the choir is comprised of the top vocalists at Georgia State (both music majors and non-music majors), and represents the diverse population of Georgia State University. Recent highlights include Orff's Carmina Burana with the Atlanta Ballet (spring 2013), Walton's Belshazzar's Feast with Simon Halsey and the Jacksonville Symphony (spring 2014), a performance with Andrea Bocelli at Phillips Arena (fall 2014) and a concert of Danny Elfman's music from the films of Tim Burton with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra (fall 2014). In May 2013, the University Singers competed and placed second in the international choral competition La Florilège Vocal de Tours. The ensemble’s invited performances have included appearances before the Georgia Music Educators Association, American Choral Directors Association and at the Georgia Music Hall of Fame Awards. The Singers’ tours have taken them throughout much of the United States (including Carnegie Hall on two occasions), and they have been on six international tours with stops in France, Belgium, Italy, Yugoslavia, Finland, Russia, Estonia, Canada and Great Britain. The University Singers are currently working on their first professional recording with plans for release in 2015. The University Singers rehearse Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 1-2:30 p.m. in the Aderhold Building, Room 430.

    • Georgia State University Master Singers - The Master Singers is an auditioned chamber choir in the School of Music. The choir is comprised of music majors and non-majors, undergraduate and graduate students, and is conducted by Dr. Joseph and the master’s students in choral conducting. The Master Singers sing a diverse array of the finest choral repertoire and rehearse Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:00-4:30 p.m. in the Haas Howell Building, Room 150.

    • Georgia State University Choral Union - The Choral Union is a large symphonic choir that is open to all Georgia State University students. The choir is composed of music majors and non-majors and is conducted by Ariel Merivil. The Choral Union rehearses Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:00-4:30 p.m. in the Aderhold Building, Room 430.
  • Jazz Ensembles

    • Jazz Band and Combos - The Georgia State Jazz Band and Jazz Combos provide performance and masterclass/clinic opportunities with jazz artists of regional, national and international stature.
  • New Music Ensembles

    • neoPhonia New Music Ensemble - Now in its 19th season, neoPhonia is a chamber ensemble promoting the music of contemporary composers, chamber works of the 20th and 21st centuries and works by emerging young composers.
  • Opera

    • University Opera Theater Workshop - Georgia State's Opera Theater Workshop provides opportunities for students to learn and practice skills related to operatic performance from the standard repertoire and contemporary works, culminating in performances of operatic scenes and/or full productions.
    • Harrower Summer Opera Workshop - The Harrower Summer Opera Workshop is a nationally recognized three-week workshop featuring a staff of professional coaches and stage directors and culminating in performances of full opera productions and scenes.
  • Orchestra

    • University Symphony Orchestra - The University Symphony Orchestra is an ensemble of 80 graduate and undergraduate student players, presenting six to eight performances each academic year. The orchestra collaborates regularly with distinguished guest artists, Georgia State University music faculty and university choral ensembles.
  • Percussion Ensemble

    • University Percussion Ensemble - The University Percussion Ensemble performs a wide range of eclectic music, all of which exhibits the influences of popular, folk music and traditional percussion writing.
