Dr. Jeffery Wall

Director of Choral Activities / Visiting Lecturer

Jeffery Wall is visiting lecturer of choral music and director of choral activities at Georgia State University. He conducts the University Singers, Men's Chorus and oversees the master's program in choral conducting. Dr. Wall is in demand as a conductor, teacher, clinician and adjudicator. He has experience in collegiate, high school, professional, community and church settings. He has served in these capacities in the states of Texas, Tennessee, South Carolina, and New Mexico.

Dr. Wall holds a Bachelor of Music from Texas Tech University in Lubbock where he studied with Dr. Kenneth Davis and baritone Gerald Dolter (voice); the Master of Music degree in choral conducting from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville where he studied with Dr. David Stutzenberger and Dr. Angela Batey, and voice from Marjorie Bennett-Stephens; and the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in choral conducting from the University of South Carolina in Columbia where he studied with Dr. Larry Wyatt. Prior to his appointment at Georgia State University, he was professor of music at New Mexico Junior College in Hobbs, NM. As a graduate teaching assistant at the University of South Carolina, he premiered and directed the University Carolers, taught undergraduate music theory, sight-singing and ear training and music appreciation. At the University of Tennessee, he was conductor of the U.T. Women's Chorus. He also taught grades 7-12 in the public schools of Lubbock, TX.

Dr. Wall's current research interests include conducting pedagogy, choral rehearsal techniques and the influence of Znamenny liturgical chant on Russian 19th century choral compositions.
